Martin Allen has joined the American Health Care Association / National Center for Assisted Living as senior vice president of reimbursement policy.
Allen was most recently vice president of revenue cycle and reimbursement services for ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare.
“His years of experience at ProMedica Senior Care have made him one of the foremost experts in the country on skilled nursing reimbursement,” said Mark Parkinson, president and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “Martin is well-positioned to promote thoughtful Medicaid and Medicare proposals, as well as assist state affiliates in advancing Medicaid efforts.”
The appointment was announced May 23, though Allen officially joined AHCA/NCAL on April 27.
Allen is a certified public accountant with more than 35 years in accounting, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, healthcare compliance, risk management, and revenue cycle processes.
His time at HCR Manor Care began in 1986 as an accountant. Since then, he advanced to senior reimbursement and accounting manager, assistant vice president and director of reimbursement services, followed by assistant vice president of internal audit and risk management, and vice president of business office processes before being promoted to vice president revenue cycle & reimbursement services.
Allen previously served as the co-chair of the AHCA/NCAL Reimbursement Committee and Cabinet and has been involved in shaping the association’s policy on Medicare Part A for many years. He holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Toledo.
