AMDA – The Society for Long-Term Care Medicine has appointed Michelle Zinnert its new executive director. The announcement was made March 11 during the organization’s annual conference in Tampa.
Zinnert will be responsible for leading the Society’s professional team while growing the value of the organization to members, partners and other stakeholders. She brings extensive experience in association management, including strategic planning, marketing and member engagement.
Prior to joining AMDA’s team, Zinnert served as executive director for the American Urogynecologic Society for 16 years. During her tenure, that society saw significant growth in revenue, membership and product development.
“Michelle’s strategic drive and her long, distinguished career in leading and growing health-care focused professional associations make her the perfect choice to lead AMDA into the next phase of our development,” said Suzanne Gillespie MD, AMDA’s president.
Founded in 1977, AMDA is the only medical specialty society representing the community of medical directors, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other practitioners working in the various post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings. The Society’s mission is to promote and enhance the development of competent, compassionate and committed medical practitioners and leaders to provide goal-centered care across all PALTC settings.
Zinnert is a certified association executive. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science form Indiana University of Pennsylvania and previously worked in marketing and corporate relations roles, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The search for the new executive director was conducted by AMDA and non-profit search experts Vetted Solutions in response to the planned retirement of outgoing Executive Director Christopher Laxton.
